Drake has had his hands full over the past couple of weeks courtesy of his heated beef with Kendrick Lamar, and the Toronto mansion that graced the cover of one of K-Dot’s diss tracks ended up at the center of a break-in attempt a day after a security guard was shot outside of the property.
I can’t imagine there are many people reading this who aren’t aware of the ongoing feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, who recently saw the bad blood that’s been simmering for over a decade boil over en route to sparking one of the most vitriolic (and entertaining) rap beefs we’ve been treated to in recent memory.
Over the weekend, Kendrick delivered what a lot of people have viewed as a knockout blow in the form of “Not Like Us,” a track with the infectious beat he used to accuse Drake and his crew of being “certified pedophiles” (among some other spicy claims).
The cover of “Not Like Us” features a picture of the lavish mansion in the ritzy Toronto neighborhood of Bridle Path, and while the location of that residence wasn’t exactly a mystery prior to the release of the song, it’s hard to ignore what’s unfolded since Kendrick decided to call attention to it.
On Tuesday, a security guard posted outside the mansion was rushed to the hospital after sustaining serious injuries in a drive-by shooting, and according to CNN, police were once again dispatched to the home on Wednesday afternoon after receiving a call about a man who was attempting to “gain access to the property.”
The outlet reports the suspect showed signs of mental distress and was taken into custody to receive medical treatment per the terms of Ontario’s Mental Health Act, which gives authorities the option to detain an unwell individual to get them necessary care without arresting them.
A spokesperson said there was no evidence to suggest the break-in attempt was linked to the shooting, and both incidents remain under investigation.
