Incredibly Addictive Interactive Map Shows The Most Searched Person On Wikipedia For Every Town In America

Looking to kill a few hours today? Have I got the thing for you! It’s a “people map” of the United States, where city names are replaced by their most Wikipedia’ed person. This includes people born in, lived in, or connected to a town, so pretty much anything goes.

Any person searched for on Wikipedia is considered for the map, including those connected to and victims of criminal acts, which is why you will see names like Ted Bundy, John Wayne Gacy, Ted Kaczynski, Wilford Brimley, and Taylor Swift.

Here’s how the map is created, according to pudding.cool

Person/city associations were based on the thousands of “People from X city” pages on Wikipedia. The top person from each city was determined by using median pageviews (with a minimum of 1 year of traffic). We chose to include multiple occurrences for a single person because there is both no way to determine which is more accurate and people can “be from” multiple places.

Check out some examples of what you can discover on this amazing interactive map.

You can zip around and zoom in at each state.

For example, here’s North Carolina…

Ohio…

Washington…

Or you can drill even further down and take a look at the results surrounding a specific city.

For example, Los Angeles…

Boston…

Chicago…

Washington, DC…

Denver…

Detroit…

Philadelphia…

And so on.

I don’t know how I am going to get any work done today. Click Here to check it out for yourself.
