‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Director Thinks A ‘Marvel vs DC’ Movie Is A Very Real Possibility

As the future of movies continues to trend towards shared universes, it’s only natural for fans to wonder if these beloved cinematic universes will ever interact with each other.

We’ve already seen this phenomenon begin to unfold in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as the character of Spider-Man is shared between Marvel Studios and Sony.

And since we’ve seen studios such as Marvel Studios and Sony put their differences aside for the greater (and profitable) good of the character, it begs the question of whether or not other studios will one day share, and potentially crossover characters, particularly when it comes to the case of Warner Bros. (who own DC Comics) and Disney (who own Marvel Studios).

While the idea may seem impossible to some, those in the industry, such as Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad director James Gunn, certainly think an eventual Marvel vs DC event is a possibility.

You might scoff at the idea of Batman hanging out with Spider-Man on screen, but Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad director James Gunn isn’t ruling anything out. During an online Q&A a fan asked: “You think it would be possible [to do] a DC vs Marvel movie?”

Here’s how Gunn responded: “In the past, I would have said no way, but today I think anything is possible.” [via We Got This Covered]

Marvel and DC crossing over is certainly not unprecedented, as it has happened multiple times throughout the history of comic books.

Given the perpetual escalation of the various cinematic universe, having these various brands crossover in a megaevent certainly seems like a likely outcome. If Disney and Warner Bros. were able to set their differences aside for such a project, the potential financial earnings would certainly be worth their time.
