McDonald’s french fries are arguably the only reason to visit the Golden Arches. Everything else on the menu is forgettable.

Big Macs will make you vomit, especially during exercise, and I don’t give a crap about chicken sandwiches. The french fries are legit.

Soggy McDonald’s french fries kinda suck. I’ll sit devour every single one but moist and muggy fries aren’t ideal. Well, a former McDonald’s employee turned radio producer, Bruno Bouchet, offered up a couple of tips to keep the Mickey D’s fries in optimal condition.

His first tip will make you say “yeah, no crap” but it needs to be mentioned in case people don’t know to keep the bag open.

“When you’re at the drive-thru, you get given your chips, and they end up getting soggy. So, I’m going to tell you… the error everyone makes is closing the top of the bag that contains the chips,” Bruno told KIIS FM’s Kyle and Jackie O in Sydney, Australia.

“Because you’d think if you make it nice and airtight, the heat will keep the chips warm. Wrong. What it actually does is, it steams the potatoes, so you’re left with sloppy [fries]. So, you’re actually steaming them when you close the bag.

Bouchet comes correct with a few more tips on keeping your fries warm and erect.

“Secondly, you know how the fries are placed upwards in the bag? Put the chips horizontally because that would slow the rate of the heat escaping. It would go out one side rather than straight from the top.”

Alright, solid suggestion, but one that will take a little planning if you’re driving to McDonald’s solo. You’re going to have to pull over to the side to rearrange the bag contents or bring along a co-pilot.

Finally, Bouchet explains the correct order of contents inside the bag.

“Stack the bags so they’re horizontally at the bottom – and you put the burgers on top of the chips to keep them warm.

Let me recap, [fries] at the bottom, tip them horizontally, burgers on top, let the bag breathe – you’ll never have soggy chips ever again in your life, I guarantee it.”

I’d like to offer my own personal hack to ensure your fries never get soggy. Eat them all on the ride home.
