Jayden Daniels was drafted with the second overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, going behind only Caleb Williams in the opening round. Like many expected, his landing spot was Washington.

But while most believed he’d suit up for the Commanders when all was said and done, pre-draft narratives began surfacing surrounding the family’s unhappiness with the organization.

Those reports involved a pair of interviews leading into draft night.

The first came from Pro Football Talk, who claimed that he was upset with the team talking to four passers at once in an awkward meet-and-greet setting.

Mike Florio went as far as to question whether Daniels would want to suit up for the “dysfunctional” team at all.

A second report of unhappiness came just before draft night.

Following a separate interview, Adam Schefter said that a meeting ruffled feathers within the Daniels family.

“It didn’t seem to go over too well with his agent who sounded off on social media that he didn’t seem particularly pleased with the process. Daniels thought it would be a visit for just him, but Washington essentially opened up the process.”

Those issues appeared to be the furthest things from the family’s mind on Thursday.

Jayden Daniels’ mom was excited about her son being chosen by the Commanders.

She spoke to the media after Jayden was picked the that second selection, and she was pumped!

She was even heard belting out the words to the “Commanders Song,” the team’s unofficial anthem, effectively hushing any rumors of angst as her son enters his rookie year.

Jayden Daniels will now fight for the starting role in Washington alongside Marcus Mariota, Jeff Driskel, and Jake Fromm.
