Plenty of people watch movies high. Even movies that have nothing to do with drugs. But what happens when a movie involving drug use just needs a little bit more to be believable? The camera goes to work.
“Doing drugs in movies is nothing special,” explains Fandor, “but what is special is when the director makes the effort to translate the feeling of a drug high into visuals.”
From crazy colors and double vision to reverberating sounds and sped-up photography, filmmakers make every attempt to cause the audience to feel as “high” as the characters on screen.
