It’s been eight years since Netflix threw its hat into the original content ring with the release of House of Cards, and for a while, most of the series the company pumped out in-house were considered appointment viewing that could hold their own with many of the prestige programs that dominated the pop culture conversation during the Golden Age of Television.

It’s safe to say that is decidedly not the case in 2021. Nowadays, it’s virtually impossible to keep up with all of the original movies and shows Netflix is pumping out in an attempt to stop the bleeding that has seen its once-formidable content library suffer thousands of casualties as a result of the Streaming Wars.

In recent years, Netflix has followed in the footsteps of the many networks who milked reality television for everything it was worth around the turn of the millennium by pumping out shows that cost a fraction of what it would take to produce a scripted series. That includes gimmicky dating shows like Love Is Blind and the fantastically trashy Too Hot to Handle, and now, it’s gearing up to release a new project that promises the permanently haunt the dreams of anyone who watches it.

On Wednesday, the company dropped the first trailer for Sexy Beasts, a dating show that adds an interesting twist to the blind date formula by, um, applying elaborate cosmetics to contestants to hide their true identity while looking for a potential partner.

While I’m sure the furry community is very excited about Sexy Beasts, I can’t say I feel the same way. Why? Well, I could probably write an entire essay to explain, but if pictures are indeed worth a thousand of them, here’s a visual long read that sums things up better than I ever could.
