We’re beginning to learn more about the sudden death of 36-year-old actress Hayden Panettiere.
On Sunday night, Panettiere’s family revealed that the actress had died unexpectedly at the age of 36.

“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden,” her father, Skip Panettiere, said in a statement to ABC News on Sunday. “She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen.”\
TMZ has released the 911 call from inside the home reporting a “cardiac arrest.” TMZ reports that Panettiere’s friend found the actress unresponsive inside a South Carolina home, and police suspect she may have had an overdose.

Law enforcement sources tell us … Hayden’s friend called 911 at 1:51 PM Sunday to report that the actress was unresponsive and in cardiac arrest inside the residence in Greenville, SC. And TMZ obtained the dispatch audio of responders sending medics to her location to perform CPR on someone who overdosed, which you can hear above.
We’re told Greenville police officers and EMS workers quickly responded, and paramedics attempted to resuscitate Hayden using “advanced cardiac life support.” Our sources say this treatment builds on CPR by adding special medicines, breathing tubes, and heart rhythm tracking.
According to previous reports, Panettiere flew from Los Angeles to spend the weekend in South Carolina with her on-again, off-again boyfriend, Brian Hickerson.
It’s unclear whether Hickerson placed the call to paramedics about Panettiere’s medical emergency.
The police have said they will not release an official cause of death until after officials perform an autopsy, but they do not suspect any foul play at the moment.
“The preliminary investigation has not indicated any signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances,” a spokesperson for the Greenville Police Department said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE. “An acquaintance of Ms. Panettiere placed the 911 call.”
Police informed PEOPLE that Panettiere’s official cause of death won’t be released until after an autopsy. They did not confirm claims that “advanced cardiac life support” techniques were used to revive her.
