The NFL is apparently threatening to fire the kid who let Tyreek Hill borrow his phone in order to record a backflip celebration.

In a video posted to social media, Kevin Fitzgibbons shared a video that detailed his side of the story of Tyreek Hill’s cellphone backflip celebration back in October.

According to the 20-year-old Fitzgibbons, he’s known Hill for some time as he did some social media work with him. Fitzgibbons says that the cellphone backflip celebration was completely unplanned and that Hill “surprised him” when he grabbed his phone.

Still, despite this, Fitzgibbons has revealed that the NFL has not only suspended him for the rest of the season but is apparently considering not bringing him back at all.

As for why the NFL is having such an overblown reaction to the situation, Fitzgibbons says that it was because he “jumped on the sidelines” in excitement after the play.

Here’s what Tyreek had to say about the moment when speaking to reporters after the game:

“I know the NFL is going to fine me for it. It’s worth it, though, Every time I step on the field I’m trying to make it memorable,” Hill said.

Even if the NFL does let Fitzgibbons go, his connections to the likes of Tyreek Hill and the virality he’s gotten from this moment basically ensures that the University of Miami student will land on his feet and will have a career in content creation going forward.

The 29-year-old Hill is currently on pace for one of the greatest wide receiver seasons in the history of the National Football League, as he currently has 88 catches for 1,324 yards and 10 touchdowns through 11 games.

His team, the Miami Dolphins, is also having a solid season as they’re currently on track to win the AFC East for the first time since 2008.
