The ‘True Detective’ Creator Is Acting Like A Big Baby About The Season 4 Finale

Regardless of how you feel about the season finale of True Detective: Night Country, there is no excuse for the behavior of the original series creator Nic Pizzolatto, who has been throwing a hissy fit on his Instagram account in recent days.

While Pizzolatto has long been vocal about the fact that he has nothing to do with True Detective: Night Country, in recent days he’s been reposting Instagram stories of random people complaining about the show.

“You may have liked the TRUE DETECTIVE finale or you may have hated the TRUE DETECTIVE finale, but one thing is indisputable: Nic Pizzolatto is on Instagram, posting other people’s stories about how Issa López ruined the franchise like an absolutely enormous baby,” said on viral tweet, that’s racked up over 275,000 views.

There are plenty of similar tweets out there that echo a similar sentiment, as Pizzolatto’s conduct has been deemed to be generally classless by the television community.

Admittedly, while the finale of True Detective: Night Country was largely a mess, Pizzolatto acting like he’s beyond creative reproach and the arbiter of quality television is insane considering that seasons two and three of his series were largely unremarkable. So guess what, Nic? That puts Night Country right in the mix, probably just above season two and below season three. Season one, of course, is in a class of its own, and if you haven’t rewatched it in a while, I highly suggest you do so.

Because, yes, season one of True Detective is truly an all-timer piece of American pop culture, and Night Country‘s decision to crib ideas and literal iconic lines such as “Time is a flat circle” is a bit shallow, but that absolutely does not excuse the behavior of Pizzolatto, who is both putting down another artist and ignoring the fact that anything True Detective-branded will ultimately benefit his wallet.

All four seasons of True Detective are now streaming on MAX.
