‘Fury Road’ Breakout Nicholas Hoult On The ‘Mad Max’ Advice He Gave ‘Furiosa’ Star Anya Taylor-Joy (Exclusive)

Warner Bros/Searchlight Pictures

While Anya Taylor-Joy is well on her way to becoming one of Hollywood’s preeminent A-list actresses, her stardom still has room to grow over the coming years, particularly considering the fact that she’s taking over the role of Imperator Furiosa, originally made famous by Oscar winner Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road, in the upcoming prequel film.

Speaking to her The Menu co-star Nicholas Hoult ahead of the film’s release this Friday, the 32-year-old shared with us what advice he gave Taylor-Joy when it comes to the uniquely visceral experience of shooting a Mad Max film out in the Australian desert with the legendary George Miller.

Fury Road star Nicholas Hoult on the advice he gave Furiosa star Anya Taylor-Joy about the process of making a Mad Max movie

“She was prepping to go off there [to film Furiosa], so she was riding bikes and learning to drift cars and I think that was the key thing: being as prepared as possible. Beause those environments and that set can be intense and it’s what makes shooting those movies incredible — you are really in those vehicles doing those things and that makes the acting easy because you’re not having to pretend on a green-screen — it’s happening, it’s visceral,” Hoult told BroBible’s Post-Credit Podcast.

“Anya is such a dedicated performer and a brilliant actress — she will fight for her characters in every moment and elevate everything that’s there and do what’s right by the story. I’m very excited to see how she brings Furiosa to life.”

At this time, Furiosa — which also stars Chris Hemsworth (reportedly as the film’s villain!) — is scheduled to release in the United States on May 24, 2024.  You can also check out Hoult and Taylor-Joy in The Menu which I absolutely loved — when hits theaters this Friday, November 18.
