Nicolas Cage’s career comeback has well and truly solidified.
After reminding everyone how incredible of an actor he is in Pig in 2o21, playing a gonzo version of himself to hilarious effect in 2022’s The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, and crushed it as Dracula in the criminally underseen Renfield, which was released earlier this year. He also got to fulfill his dream of playing Superman in The Flash (sort of).
All of this, combined with him finally paying the IRS the $6 million he owed them — which he admitted he made up by starring in ‘crummy’ movies — means that his acting career is, finally, back on track.
Cage’s hot streak looks set to continue with his latest film Dream Scenario, as it’s produced by A24, which is the darling studio behind a bevy of recent hits — including the Best Picture-winning Everything Everywhere All At Once.
Set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival early next month, Dream Scenario features Cage as a lowly professor who becomes an overnight celebrity, for better and for worse, after he appears in everyone’s dream one night.

Directed by Norwegian filmmaker Kristoffer Borgli in his feature film debut, Dream Scenario is described by A24 as a “surrealist satire-comedy” and also stars Michael Cera, Julianne Nicholson, Tim Meadows, Kate Berlant, Dylan Baker, Dylan Gelula, and more.
In addition to Dream Scenario, Cage also has the film The Retirement Plan set to release this year. He’s also set to appear in the horror film Arcadian and the thriller Longlegs, which are scheduled to release in 2024.
Earlier this year, it was also reported that Cage had signed on to star in a sequel to his 2005 Lord of War, titled Lords of War, alongside Bill Skarsgard, who will star as his character’s son. When the project was first announced, it was reported that filming would begin this year, however, it’s unclear when production will begin given the ongoing actors’ strike.
At this time, Dream Scenario does not have an official release date.
