Ohio Woman Works At The Mall. Then She Reveals The Difference Between Orange And Red Nike Shoe Boxes

When it comes to getting new kicks, Nike is a pretty obvious choice. It offers a vast array of sneakers to shoppers, but according to one Ohio worker, there is an easy way to identify the shoes you want.

The video, which has racked up 732,900 views, features mall worker Lauren Young (@lyoung614) in the middle of a shopping aisle, where she is surrounded by endless piles of red and orange Nike boxes.

“Do you know that when it comes to Nikes, orange boxes mean comfort [and] red boxes mean style?” she asked.

In a comment, Lauren added that she had “just learned this and felt like it was such useful info.”

“You’re welcome!” she quipped.

The TikToker didn’t immediately respond to BroBible’s request for comment via TikTok direct message.

Is This Claim True?

It’s worth noting that there were other commenters backing up Lauren’s claim, with one differentiating it as follows: “Orange boxes = Performance shoes (running/training). Red boxes = Lifestyle/streetwear (e.g., Dunks).”

Meanwhile, in 2023, TikToker and self-described Nike worker Alexis Davidson shared a TikTok of herself looking confused while on-screen text said the following, “When you see someone at Nike shopping the orange shoes for running shoes and the red boxes for streetwear.” Presumably, this further implies the opposite is true.

Nike Enthusiasts React

In the comments, fans of the sneakers brand shared their surprise at this revelation. “No wonder my feet be hurtin’,” one commented. They accompanied their post with a picture of a pile of red Nike boxes.

“That’s why my Nike slip ons hurt so bad,” a second added. Several commenters also remarked how they weren’t aware of this information, while many of them thanking Lauren for her TikTok.

However, not everyone was sure about the validity of this claim. “Hmmm nah cause my Roshe and Waffles are in red boxes and they’re the most comfortable Nike,” a third noted. While a fourth echoed, “My Vomeros came in the red box and they are my most comfortable shoes.”

Others were anti-Nike altogether. “Both boxes mean narrow uncomfortable shoes,” a fifth quipped. Meanwhile, a sixth claimed, “My podiatrist told me Nike’s are crap and not to buy them.”

Many commenters also asked about what other shoebox colours meant. While most of these queries were left unanswered, a further commenter did claim that black boxes were for special/limited edition shoes.

Recently, Nike has also garnered attention for dropping its Next Tour 3 Golf Shoes and, more comically, admitting that its FIFA World Cup jerseys have a hilarious design flaw. Arguably, by exposing this little-known fact about the sneaker company, it’s possible that people will be paying more attention to Nike than ever.
