NSYNC Talks About Cast And Cut From ‘Star Wars: Episode II’ And How Timberlake Was Jealous

Justin Timberlake and Lance Bass of NSYNC

Hot Ones

NSYNC is back. The five members reunited at the recent MTV Music Awards and they are set to release their first new song together in 22 years.

Appearing on Hot Ones with Sean Evans, they were grilled on all sorts of questions about the past, present, and future. That included some of the more outlandish lore that has swirled around the band throughout the years including rumors that they’d been cast and cut from Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones.

At 6:50 in the interview, host Sean Evans explains how he likes to “fact check the larger than life lore that surrounds (their) guests.” Evans then proceeds to ask, “though cut from the final edit, is it true that NSYNC was cast as Jedi warriors in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones?”

Justin Timberlake immediately chimes in with a big “mmmmmmmhmmmmm, now we’re getting to the nitty gritty” as Lance Bass nods his head enthusiastically. It is then revealed that the other three NSYNC members (JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick, and Joey Fatone) were cast in Star Wars: Episode II but Lance Bass and Justin Timberlake were not.

Justin clearly holds onto bitterness about not getting tipped to appear in Star Wars. When it was then revealed the other three’s cameo was cut from the film he joked about how he and Lance were secretly happy about it.

After the NSYNC x Star Wars story, they ask Lance Bass about being a trained Cosmonaut, certified by NASA, and “once in a position to be the youngest person in human history to travel to outer space.”

Bass confirms all of that, wildly. But explains how it all fell apart at the last minute.
