In yet another move that signifies just how seriously Disney and Star Wars are taking their streaming expansion, new reports indicate that none other than Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi will have a “recurring” role in the upcoming Rogue One spin-off series on Disney+, Andor, which stars Diego Luna as the titular Cassian Andor.

Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan Kenobi will have a reoccurring role in Andor.

The fact that Obi-Wan will have a sizeable role in Andor shows that Lucasfilm is making an effort to connect all of its Disney+ series. Obi-Wan had a close relationship with Senator Bail Organa, so maybe he will be a key contributor of intel for the growing rebellion. Will the Andor storyline correlate at all with the Obi-Wan Kenobi series? Time will tell. [via The Illuminerdi]

Adding Ewan McGregor’s Obi-Wan to the fray only reaffirms how serious Disney is about establishing an interconnected Star Wars universe akin to that of the MCU.

In addition to Luna and McGregor, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, and Genevieve O’Rielly will star in the series, which is expected to his Disney+ sometime in 2022.

As for the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, it will reportedly begin production this Spring with the goal of releasing on Disney+ next year. While not much is known about the series at this time, Game of Thrones actress Indira Varma was recently cast in an undisclosed role.

The next Star Wars series to hit Disney+ will be The Book of Boba Fett, which is scheduled to release in December. After that, it’s rumored that season three of The Mandalorian will premiere sometime in early 2022, followed by the likes of Andor and Obi-Wan Kenobi.
