While it’s been known for some time now that Liam Neeson (who is much funnier than you realize, more on that later) is starring in Paramount’s remake of the famed crime spoof comedy Naked Gun, reports now indicate that he’ll be joined by none other than Pamela Anderson as his co-star. Anderson last appeared in an American feature film in 2022’s Alone at Night.
Neeson, of course, will be starring as Frank Drebin, the hapless yet effective detective popularized by the legendary Leslie Nielsen.
The film was written by Dan Gregor, Doug Mand and Akiva Schaffer, who wrote and directed the popular and inventive Disney+ movie Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers. Schaffer will be directing.
“The original movie, written and directed by Jerry Zucker, Jim Abrahams, and David Zucker and based on their television series Police Squad! that lasted only six episodes, spoofed the tropes of police shows and films that had ingrained themselves into audience’s minds over the decades.”

The Hollywood Reporter also states that Anderson’s role will be the love interest, “akin to the role played in the original by Priscilla Presley, with a mix of sexiness and goofiness.”
While Police Squad! lasted for just six episodes in 1982, the films were far more successful as Paramount produced a trilogy from 1988 to 1994.
There’s been tons of renewed interest in the famed Baywatch star in recent years thanks to the 2022 Hulu series Pam & Tommy (which saw her played by Lily James) and the 2023 Netflix documentary Pamela, a Love Story.
In addition to the Naked Gun remake, Anderson is also slated to star in the film The Last Showgirl alongside Jamie Lee Curtis, Dave Bautista, Brenda Song, Kiernan Shipka, and Billie Lourd. At this time, the new Naked Gun movie is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 18, 2025.
