With Peaky Blinders set to premiere its fifth season in the UK this weekend, BBC One has released an exclusive three-minute-long first-look at the upcoming episode of Peaky Blinders.

The clip, which can be seen below, features Tommy Shelby in a foggy field, approaching a fully-suited scarecrow. As he makes his way up to the scarecrow, he discovers a note addressed to him that reads: “Look down on earth and see the seeds you have sown.”

Mr. Shelby takes the advice of the note, literally looking down at the ground beneath him, realizing he’s walked straight into a minefield trap.

As Tommy carefully creeps his way back to safety, he notices another landmine in the ground and raises his fist as if he’s planning on intentionally triggering it, thus killing himself.

At this moment, though, his son Charlie — who is bursting through the gates of the explosive-laden field that Tommy just accidentally walked into — can be heard in the distance yelling “Dad! There’s a phone call for ya!”, causing Tommy to snap out of it and pick himself off the ground.

Season five of Peaky Blinders sees the entire main cast return, with the introduction of Sam Claflin’s Oswald Mosley — a real-life politician who was the leader of the British Union of Fascists — as the primary antagonist.

Peaky Blinders is set to premiere in the United Kingdom on Sunday, August 25, and in the United States on Netflix on Friday, October 4.

The fifth season of the acclaimed Stephen Knight gangster period drama — which is set to kick off with the Wall Street crash of 1929 — will consist of six episodes.
