People On The Street In L.A. Are Asked To Name Any Book, Even The Bible, And They Fail

people can't name any books

Americans don’t read anymore, this is known. Frankly, between all of the premium content getting released by Netflix and HBO there’s no time for books. I used to be an avid reader but I think I’ve only finished two books in the past calendar year, which apparently makes me 2x better of a person than the average American who hasn’t even read one book in the past year according to a recent Pew Research Center report.

After hearing about this report, Jimmy Kimmel sent a camera crew out on the street on last night’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live to ask people on Los Angeles to name any book at all. They could say The Bible, or Harry Potter, Love in the Time of Cholera, or whatever the fuck they wanted. They just had to name ONE single book and it’s astonishing how many people couldn’t come up with one on the spot:

I think it’s obvious what we’re seeing here is how much people panic when a TV camera + microphone is shoved in their faces. People who aren’t accustomed to being on camera just clam up instantly, and in this case, it means nobody is able to name a single book.
