See that big, beautiful container above? If your parents regularly stocked the house with Planters Cheez Balls, then your childhood was awesome. Now your current life can also be awesome because Planters is bringing back their scrumptious Cheez Balls!
For our younger readers, when you think of cheesy poofs you may think of Eric Cartman’s insatiable love of the snack food. But cheesy poofs were derived from Planters’ Cheez Puffs. These puffed corn snacks covered in a cheese powder were the shit in the ’80s and ’90s, simpler times when your parents thought these snacks were “healthy” because they had “cheese” in them.
Sadly, Planters’ Cheez Balls were discontinued back in 2006. But due to public outcry that included petitions, the balls are back! The Kraft Heinz Company announced that Planters Cheez Balls and Cheez Curls would return! However, these cheesy snacks are only returning for a limited time. BOOOOOOO!
“We heard many impassioned pleas for us to bring Cheez Balls and Cheez Curls back over the years and we wanted to give our fans a chance to reunite with their most-missed cheesy snack,” said Planters Head of Brand Building Melanie Huet.
The company already shipped the first wave of the snacks to cheese ball fanatics who went “above and beyond” to bring back the beloved snacks. For the rest of us, the snacks will be available nationwide starting in July because everything old is new again.
The Cheez Balls will be available in 2.75-ounce classic foil-and-cardboard canisters and Cheez Curls will come in 4-ounce canisters. They will both sell for $1.99. God bless everyone who made this happen.
