Surprising the crowd at the Reportin’ For Duty benefit concert held at the Nearest Green Whiskey Distillery in Shelbyville, Tennessee, rock legend Eddie Vedder joined Post Malone on stage with acoustic guitars to belt out some Tom Petty classics for the crowd.

It was the second annual tribute concert and fundraiser for the late great comedian Leslie Jordan who was born and raised in Chattanooga and brought his thick Tennessee accent to a ton of Hollywood projects including one of my favorite ski bum films, Ski Patrol.

A ton of musicians were announced for the private fundraiser including Eddie Vedder, Billy Strings, Maren Morris, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, and many others. What wasn’t announced was the surprise duet between Post Malone and Eddie Vedder playing Tom Petty classics ‘Won’t Back Down’ and ‘American Girl.’ Some clips of those performances have since hit the web. Here the duo jams along to ‘American Girl’ by Tom Petty:

They also played Pearl Jam’s ‘Last Kiss’ together:

Unfortunately, there wasn’t a full recording released from the set but who knows, maybe they’ll reunite in the future for something that’s more accessible to the fans as they clearly had a lot of on-stage chemistory.

To say that Eddie Vedder has had a busy February would be an understatement. Pearl Jam just released their first new song since 2020, Dark Matter, and announced a forthcoming album and world tour to go with the new music.
