Robert Pattinson stars as Chris Hansen in A24's 'Primetime'
A24 has released the official trailer for Primetime. Starring Robert Pattinson in the lead role of former To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen, Primetime will hit theaters on September 25.
In addition to Robert Pattinson in the lead role of Chris Hansen, Primetime also stars Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, and Phoebe Bridgers. Primetime is the feature film debut of director Lance Oppenheim, a documentarian known for projects such as Some Heaven, Spermworld, and HBO’s Ren Faire.
Primetime is one of five films that Pattinson stars in this year alongside The Drama and The Odyssey — which have already hit theaters and have thus far combined to make over $1.1 billion at the box office — Here Comes The Flood alongside Denzel Washington, and December’s Dune: Part Three. He also began production on Matt Reeves’ highly-anticipated 2028 film The Batman: Part II earlier this summer.

“In 2006, To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen sets out to make television history,” the brief and vague synopsis for the film reads.
“Best known for his immersive, critically acclaimed documentary work — Some Kind of Heaven, Spermworld, and the HBO documentary series Ren Faire — Lance Oppenheim makes his narrative debut with PRIMETIME. This time, in a gripping feature inspired by true events, he catapults audiences back to the aughts, when primetime television reigned supreme,” A24 says of the film.
To Catch a Predator was an NBC Dateline hidden-camera series that ran from 2004 to 2007 and worked with the online watchdog group Perverted Justice to lure men who had engaged in sexually explicit online conversations with decoys posing as minors into meeting at a house, where Hansen would confront them on camera before law enforcement moved in to make arrests.
Primetime will have its world premiere at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival in early September and will be released in theaters everywhere on September 25th.
