Actress Sydney Sweeney is all the hotness right now. The 26-year-old is cranking out one movie after another and signing endorsement deals like crazy these days.
Sweeney has appeared in five films over the past two years including the recently released Immaculate and the latest Marvel entry Madame Web.
Fans also loved her turns in the TV shows Euphoria and The White Lotus and her turn as host on Saturday Night Live.
So when Hollywood producer Carol Baum came off the top rope to drop an elbow on the 26-year-old actress following a recent screening of her 1988 film Dead Ringers, fans were big mad.
Baum’s most recent producing credit is the 2022 TV movie Jolly Good Christmas. The last feature film she produced was the 2014 movie Boychoir.
“There’s an actress who everybody loves now – Sydney Sweeney,” Baum told New York Times film critic Janet Maslin at the event, Daily Mail reports.
“I don’t get Sydney Sweeney. I was watching on the plane Sydney Sweeney’s movie [Anyone But You] because I wanted to watch it.
“I wanted to know who she is and why everybody’s talking about her,’ she told the audience.
“I watched this unwatchable movie, sorry to people who love this movie, romantic comedy where they hate each other.”
Baum then referred to a discussion she had with the producing class she teaches at USC.
“I said to my class, ‘Explain this girl to me. She’s not pretty, she can’t act. Why is she so hot?'” Baum recalled.
“Nobody had an answer, but then the question was asked, ‘Well, if you could get your movie made because she was in it, would you do it?’
“I said, ‘Well, that’s a really good question … that’s a very hard question to answer because we all want to get the movie made and who walks away from a green light? Nobody I know. Your job is to get the movie made.”
Carol Baum is now public enemy number one among Sydney Sweeney fans.
“Someone’s jealousy is showing, and the truth is the one who criticized her can’t direct her way out of a wet paper bag with a neon sign and a roadmap,” one person commented on X (Twitter).
“Oh good. It’s been a minute since ugly people said stuff like this,” someone else wrote.

“I was curious about the knockout thespians that Ms. Baum has collaborated with in her career: Darryl Hannah, Stockard Channing, Daphne Zuniga, Melanie Griffith, Dolly Parton, Meg Ryan, Dana Delaney, Jennifer Aniston, Julia Stiles, Tea Leoni,” another fan responded. “Draw your own conclusions.”
“Are we looking at the same woman?” read another comment, echoing many others. “Sydney is very pretty and she does have skills regarding acting.”
