Keeping up their tradition of elaborate birthday “pranks”, Rob McElhenney recruited Chris Pratt to wish a Parks & Rec-themed Happy Birthday to his best buddy Ryan Reynolds.

For his 47th birthday, McElhenney has decided to name a park in Wrexham, Wales, after Ryan and recruited Pratt to deliver the message to him.

McElhenney and Reynolds, of course, own Wrexham AFC together and have become the best of friends since buying the club in September 2020.

According to McElhenney, the park will even feature literal “green lanterns,” an homage to Reynolds’ infamous 2011 superhero movie bomb.

“Introducing the Ryan Rodney Reynolds Memorial Park, in Wrexham, Wales, located on the site of the old Wrexham Hippodrome,” the video begins.

“This park will be beautiful; will have open; green spaces; pop-up restaurants; we’ll have movie screens; there will be actual green lanterns; benches for old guys to swing on; a statue that may or may not look like Ryan! Happy birthday, Ryan!”

The best bit of the video — showcasing Pratt’s innate comedic talent — is when he clearly adlibs at the end, “Is Danny DeVito here?”

The pair are currently featured in season two of the FX docuseries Welcome to Wrexham, which is currently streaming on Hulu.

Currently, after 14 matches played, Wrexham sit in 4th place in League Two — their first season in the English football pyramid’s professional leagues in 15 years — with 24 points, just 5 points off of first.

Over the last few weeks, our Post Credit Podcast has had the pleasure of interviewing some key figures from Welcome to Wrexham, such as:

  • Wayne Jones, owner of The Turf Pub, which is attached to the club’s Racecourse stadium
  • Humphrey Ker, Executive Director of Wrexham AFC
  • Gemma Owen, Head of Women’s Football Operations at Wrexham AFC

Reynolds will next be seen starring in Deadpool 3, which was forced to halt production earlier this year due to the actors’ strike. Previously scheduled to hit theaters on May 3, its release date is now unknown.

As for McElhenney, he’s still starring in both It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which is entering its 17th season, and Mythis Quest, which was renewed for a fourth.
