A Running List Of All The Movies Getting An Early On-Demand Release As Theaters Everywhere Shut Down [Updated]

Running List Of All The Movies Getting An Early On-Demand Release

Universal Pictures / Warner Bros.

After the worst box office weekend in almost 20 years, just $55.3 million in the U.S. and Canada, and with theater chains like Regal, AMC, Showcase Cinemas, Landmark Theaters, and Alamo Drafthouse closing their doors for the foreseeable future, many movie studios have announced that they will be releasing films that are still going to be technically “in theaters” on-demand so people can view them from the comfort of their homes.

This move comes not only because of the numerous American theater chains closing, but also because several other countries’ theaters such as Canada’s Cineplex Odeon and Landmark Cinemas, as well as the United Kingdom’s Cineworld, Odeon and Picturehouse are also shutting things down for the near future.

So far, the list of films that have been announced as either currently or soon to be available on demand is relatively small, but it is sure to grow the longer people remain homebound.

Movies that have either been delayed or are set to be released over the next few weeks, but have yet to be given on demand release dates also include Black Widow, Mulan, A Quiet Place Part II, No Time to Die, Fast 9, The New Mutants, Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway, and Antlers.

We will keep this list updated as more movies are given early digital release dates.
