Due to the production’s commitment to filming on location and not at an indoor set, Deadpool 3 has seen far more leaks than the average Marvel Cinematic Universe film, particularly when it comes to set photos.

Earlier this week, we brought you the news that two more characters from the old X-Men universe had been spotted on set. Since we don’t want to spoil it, if you’re interested, you can find out who they are here.

To combat to proliferation of spoilers, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds posted a heartfelt statement on Instagram about the issue.

“Surprises are part of the magic of theatrical movies. It’s important for us to shoot the new DEADPOOL film in real, natural environments, using practical effects as oppos to making the movie indoors and digitally. Telephoto lenses continue to spoil surprises and create a difficult situation for everyone,” Reynolds’ statement on Instagram says.

“Here’s hoping some of the websites and social channels hold back showing images before they’re ready. The film is built for audience joy — and our highest hope is to preserve as much of that magic as possible for the finished film and the big screen. Part of the reason people post spoilers is because they’re excited. I realize these aren’t real world issues and it’s firmly in the ‘good problems’ bucket,” he continued.

“I love making this movie,” Reynolds concluded.

Alongside Reynolds, Deadpool 3 features the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Additional cast members include Owen Wilson, Emma Corrin, Matthew Macfadyen, Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, Jennifer Garner, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, Stefan Kapičić, Rob Delaney, and more.

At this time, Deadpool 3 — which will likely be given a new title before it is officially released — is set to hit theaters on Friday, July 24, 2024. The film will be the first R-rated movie in the history of the MCU.
