It is unclear how many sharks are in this clip. I can count 10 in the lights which means there are likely a lot more. But it is an unfortunate position for this saltwater crocodile to find itself in surrounded by sharks and unsure of how to get out of the situation.

Things are relatively calm for a few breaths before one of the sharks appears to either graze the crocodiles foot or take a little nibble and suddenly the water turns ugly. The medium-sized saltwater crocodile defends its ground and shortly thereafter realizes it’s high time to get out of there as it is surrounded by sharks. There is some mild language in the video (it’s Australia, after all) so be warned.

The video has gone viral on Instagram (above) as well as on TikTok where it was viewed 14+ million times over the weekend with many calling it the ‘most Australian video’ on the Internet.

One of the top comments on TikTok joked that it’s just an “average pool in Australia.” Another person pointed out that “only in Australia could you yell at a crocodile for biting your rope while it’s biting on a shark.”

I’d like to point out that there are are saltwater crocodiles in South Florida, particularly in the Everglades National Park, so it would be possible to see a similar encounter such as this in Florida…

To that point, someone joked that ‘Australia is just like Florida’ adding that the only real difference is Australia has kangaroos and Florida has hurricanes. Someone else joked that the shark lost half its teeth after taking a nibble out of that saltwater crocodile’s leg.
