United States Senator Josh Hawley says he believes the government has “downplayed” the number of UFO sightings it is aware of and what it knows about them.

The Senator’s claims come in the wake of David Grusch, a former official with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) and the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), making the stunning allegations that the United States has retrieved and studied UFOs of non-human origin and recovered alien bodies.

“The number of these is apparently huge, huge. And that is something that the government has, the best I can say about it, downplayed, if not kept from the public, for a long, long time,” Hawley told NewsNation.

Hawley’s claim echoes that of Tennessee Congressman Tim Burchett, who has said that he believes the United States government has alien tech in its possession and that it is currently being reverse-engineered.

Back in January, after the Pentagon’s Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) released its report on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), or UFOs, Burchett claimed, “This thing is a huge cover-up, for whatever reason. And I just feel like America is ready, we need to know, and to stop with all the shenanigans.”

Hawley, who previously said what whistleblower David Grusch has reported “sounds pretty close” to what he had been briefed on, told NewsNation, “I don’t have any basis to evaluate [Grusch’s claims], but do some of the details that he’s alleging, do they sound plausible? Yeah, sure. They sound plausible, based on what I’ve seen this government do in other instances.”

He continued, “What we learned from the Chinese spy balloon incident is that one part of the government actively concealed it from other parts of the government. Because that’s what they do all the time.”

The House of Representatives is taking whistleblower David Grusch’s shocking UFO and alien claims so seriously that it plans to hold a hearing on them.

“He’s saying that the government knows more about this than they have previously let on. That doesn’t really surprise me,” said Hawley. “Because it looks to me like the government has been tracking these UAPs for a long time now, and has not been saying much about it.”
