Woman Is Sitting At Restaurant. Then She Looks Across The Room: ‘Girl, Run! You Aren’t Supposed To Meet Your Doppelgänger!’

Coming across your doppelgänger is often framed as an urban myth. But one woman was left stunned when she actually came across her double in a restaurant.

In the viral video, TikTok user Tiara (@tiaraareneeee) zooms in on a woman in a crowded restaurant and says, “Ya’ll, I’m literally looking at myself from across the room, crazy.”

After showing viewers her own face, she pans the camera back to the woman.

Despite being at an angle, the faces are clearly similar. An on-screen caption reads, “POV: a stranger walks in with the same face as you.” The clip has garnered 4 million views.

Tiara didn’t immediately respond to BroBible’s request for comment via TikTok direct message.

How Did Commenters React?

Many commenters advised Tiara to proceed with caution.

“This…. Is not a good thing… you’re not suppose to meet your doppelgänger,” one wrote. “I met mine and my entire life changed!”

“The say that you should never meet your doppelgänger,” a second pointed out.

While a third advised, “Girl, run! You aren’t supposed to meet your doppelgänger!

Others were more curious and chilled out about it.

“We all got doppelgängers, gotta be a glitch in the matrix,” a fourth chimed in.

“What if that was YOU in a different timeline,” a fifth speculated.

Meanwhile, a sixth added, “I hope she sees this lol, y’all could literally be besties.”

What Happened Next?

Tiara has posted several follow-ups since this video. In them, she explained that she didn’t go up and speak to her and that it was her friend who initially pointed out the similarity.

She also revealed how the double was tagged in the comments by a friend, which led to the doppelgänger commenting. From there, the two connected on Instagram and later went live together.

Why Shouldn’t You Meet Your Doppelgänger?

These days, doppelgänger, including celebrity doppelgängers, are usually seen as a fun coincidence. Moreover, as seen with Brock Purdy’s doppelgänger, being someone’s double can come with perks like a free trip to the Super Bowl. However, the more superstitious among us would argue that we should proceed with more caution.

Mythology and folklore suggest that meeting your doppelgänger is usually seen as a harbinger of doom or a sign of impending death.

According to one TikTok video by paranormal account @theplaceofmystery, your doppelgänger is your “spiritual duplicate.” They are said to be a sign that your soul is detaching from your body. This clip claims that to see your doppelgänger is to accept your deadly fate. It argues that this is a sign from the universe that “something is terribly wrong.”

As also noted by this video and the Lunatics Project website, a famous example of this superstition in practice is Abraham Lincoln. He saw a second face in the mirror shortly after his second election. Because the face was sickly and pale, his wife interpreted it as a sign that he wouldn’t survive his second term. Later, Lincoln was assassinated.

While there is no credible evidence that this spiritual warfare is actually true, it is enough to chill you to your core.
