The ‘Sicario 2’ Trailer Promises A Movie That’s Basically ‘Narcos’ On Steroids

For my money, Sicario was easily the best sleeper hit of 2015. It managed to garner three Oscar nominations and further cement its legacy thanks to one of the best opening scenes of all time. The movie featured Emily Blunt, Benicio Del Toro, and Josh Brolin going toe-to-toe with the Sonora Cartel and featured all the gunfights, explosions, and brutality that that comes along with such a conflict.

Sicario came out around the same time as Narcos, which means 2015 was a banner year for anyone who enjoys watching the famously brutal groups get what’s due to them. The Netflix series has devoted three seasons to the good guys kicking ass, and next year, we’re finally going to be treated to a Sicario sequel that might be even more badass than the original.

The follow-up features Del Toro and Brolin bringing the war on terror south of the border with a mandate to crack down on the drug trade by any means possible. There were close to no rules in the first movie, but it appears the duo will have an even looser mandate when it comes to taking on the cartels— especially when you consider the clip of Del Toro’s character shooting someone on the street in broad daylight.

There’s someone holding a gun or a giant explosion in virtually every single shot in the trailer, so if you’re looking to get your excessively violent action movie fix, you’ll want to set aside some time to see this.

Sicario 2 is scheduled to be released on June 29, 2018.
