Netflix has released the first trailer for the upcoming miniseries Griselda, a new series from the creators of Narcos that features former Modern Family star Sofia Vergara as notorious drug trafficker Griselda Blanco.

Griselda is inspired by the life of the savvy and ambitious Griselda Blanco, who created one of the most profitable cartels in history. In 1970s-80s Miami, Blanco’s lethal blend of unsuspected savagery and charm helped her expertly navigate between business and family, leading her to become widely known as “the Godmother.”
In addition to Vergara in the lead role, Griselda also stars Alberto Guerra, Vanessa Ferlito, Martin Rodriguez, Alberto Ammann, Christian Tappan, Diego Trujillo, Paulina Dávila, Gabriel Sloyer, Juliana Aidén Martinez, José Zúñiga, and more. The series will premiere on Netflix on Wednesday, January 24, 2024.
Griselda marks the first live-action role for Vergara since Modern Family concluded back in 2020. In recent years, she did voice work for the recent comedy film Strays and has appeared as a judge on America’s Got Talent.
The 51-year-old Vergara did have a notable 2023 in her personal life, as she split from her husband Joe Manganiello, whom she married back in 2015.
In addition to her role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on the Emmy-winning ABC comedy Modern Family, Vergara is also known for her performances in projects such as Chasing Papi, Four Brothers, Meet the Browns, Madea Goes to Jail, New Year’s Eve, The Three Stooges, Machete Kills, Fading Gigolo, Chef, Hot Pursuit, Happy Feet Two, Escape from Planet Earth, The Emoji Movie, and more.
Vergara has also had a prolific career as a model, which began before her time in Hollywood and helped launch her acting career, and currently has over 32 million followers on Instagram.
