Netflix has released yet another ray of light in these trying times (looking at you, season three of Ozark — thank you — and also you, Extraction) as they’ve not only dropped first-look images at their upcoming comedy series Space Force, but they’ve announced that it will drop on May 29.
Here’s the official synopsis for the highly-anticipated sitcom, via Netflix:
A decorated pilot with dreams of running the Air Force, four-star general Mark R. Naird (Steve Carell) is thrown for a loop when he finds himself tapped to lead the newly formed sixth branch of the US Armed Forces: Space Force. Skeptical but dedicated, Mark uproots his family and moves to a remote base in Colorado where he and a colorful team of scientists and “Spacemen” are tasked by the White House with getting American boots on the moon (again) in a hurry and achieving total space dominance.
Space Force is perhaps most notable for the fact that it will be Carell’s first role on a comedy TV series since his career-defining role of Michael Scott on The Office. Not only is Carell involved, by The Office creator Greg Daniels is credited as a co-creator of the series.
In addition to Carell, Space Force also stars John Malkovich, Diana Silvers, Tawny Newsome, Ben Schwartz, Lisa Kudrow, Jimmy O. Yang, Noah Emmerich, Alex Sparrow, and Don Lake. Just an outrageous cast.
Space Force will hit Netflix on Friday, May 29. While life will hopefully be starting to look somewhat normal again by then, I’ll still welcome any Steve Carell content into my life at any time of the year.
