Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become an even bigger box office success than even the most optimistic of experts would have predicted. With $360 million at the domestic box office in its opening weekend, it has broken the record previously set by Avengers: Endgame seven years ago.
Sony and Marvel Studios’ Spider-Man: Brand New Day — which hit theaters on Friday, July 31 –opened to $360 million domestically in its debut weekend, which is more than the $357.1 million Avengers: Endgame made during its opening weekend in 2019 to become the highest-grossing opening in US box office history at the time.

The number is staggering when considering Endgame was the culmination of 21 Marvel films and a decade of franchise building, making it the most anticipated movie event in Hollywood history at the time.
Brand New Day surpassing it speaks to both the enduring commercial dominance of Spider-Man as a character and the degree to which Tom Holland’s version of Peter Parker has become one of modern cinema’s most bankable figures since debuting in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War.
The global number will likely push the film well past $700-800 million for the opening weekend alone, positioning Brand New Day for a run that could challenge the all-time global records. With The Odyssey already approaching $1 billion and Brand New Day now breaking domestic opening weekend records, 2026 is shaping up to be the most significant box office year since 2019.
The previous domestic opening weekend records, in order, are: Avengers: Endgame ($357.1M), Avengers: Infinity War ($257.7M), and The Avengers ($207.4M). Brand New Day didn’t just break the record — it cleared it by nearly $3 million.
Next up for the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be the release of Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, which should be a similar box office behemoth.
