'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' is the highest-grossing movie in the history of the domestic box office
Spider-Man: Brand New Day has become a historic box office success. The fourth MCU Spider-Man movie has surpassed Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ $936 million domestic total to become the all-time highest-grossing movie at the domestic box office.
At the time of this writing, Spider-Man: Brand New Day has grossed $936.77 million, overtaking the $936,662,225 that Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens made at the box office over a decade ago.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day opened with a $360 million opening weekend, the highest ever, and then continued to steamroll through the summer, as the film has since crossed $2 billion worldwide. To put the success of Brand New Day into further context: it made more money in the United States than Avengers: Endgame did.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens — which was the first Star Wars movie under Disney’s ownership — was released in 2015 and held this record for over a decade. Given that a movie like Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame were unable to break that record, it seemed unlikely that it ever would fall. Then Spider-Man: Brand New Day came along.

Brand New Day’s massive box office total is set to provide a massive windfall for star Tom Holland, as he’s reportedly set to make over $100 million from the project.
In addition to Holland as Peter Parker, Spider-Man: Brand New Day also stars Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Sadie Sink, Liza Colón-Zayas, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Mando, Tramell Tillman, and Marvin Jones III.
Next up for the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be the release of Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, which should be a similar box office record-setter.
