Tom Holland is set to earn at least $100M for 'Brand New Day'
Tom Holland earned $250,000 for his first appearance as Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War in 2016. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is going to make him over $100 million.
According to a report from TheWrap, Tom Holland negotiated a base salary of at least $20 million for Spider-Man: Brand New Day — a $10 million increase from his No Way Home payday in 2021, plus an uncapped backend bonus structure tied to box office performance that’s set to net him over $100 million.
With the film having crossed $2 billion globally and still climbing in only its third week of release, that uncapped backend is producing a historic payday.
Tom Holland is set to earn over $100 million from Spider-Man: Brand New Day thanks to a backend deal on the $2 billion blockbuster
“He will make at least $100 million,” one individual with knowledge of the deal told TheWrap. “He’s the new Robert Downey Jr.”
Holland earned $250,000 for Civil War, $500,000 for Homecoming, $4 million for Far From Home, and $10 million for No Way Home.
TheWrap compared Holland’s rise within the MCU to that of Robert Downey Jr., who followed a nearly identical trajectory when it came to his compensation — $500,000 for the first Iron Man, scaling up to a backend structure that netted him over $100 million for Infinity War and Endgame combined.
RDJ is now back in the MCU as Doctor Doom and will earn a reported $100 million guaranteed for two films: Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
It’s been a massive year at the box office for Holland, as he also had a starring role in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which recently became the highest-grossing R-rated film of all-time with $1.3 billion at the global box office and counting.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day was directed by Destin Daniel Cretton and is currently in theaters.
