Woman Gets On Carnival Cruise. Then Staff Locks Her In Her Room And Removes Access To Her Balcony

Have you ever slammed so much tequila on a cruise ship that you lost balcony access? That’s what happened to a Carnival Cruise traveler who tested the limits of the drinking pass.

The Carnival guest, TikTok user @juicyloveboo, begins her video with a recording of three onboard security guards walking through a hallway. Judging from a text overlay in the video, it’s evident that they’re escorting the passenger to her room. The on-screen caption reads, “Get the Carnival drinking package. They took mine but make sure y’all get it.”

Once inside of her room, she reveals the consequences of what happens when you unwind a bit too hard on a Carnival cruise.

“They took my balcony handle and revoked my drinking package. Yeah, we was f—– up,” she wrote. To illustrate what she means, she approaches her balcony door to show off the missing handle in question. Indeed, Carnival workers took off the knob to her balcony, subsequently restricting her access to her room’s balcony.

In a caption, @juicyloveboo shed further light on why her drinking pass privileges were revoked. “Yes you should get the drinking packages. No you shouldn’t get 15 shots of patron reposado,” she shared.

Is The Carnival Cruise Drinking Pass A Good Deal?

A previous Carnival guest also encouraged folks to opt for the daily pass. That’s because the end of his 4-day cruise culminated in a staggering $810.30 beverage bill when he didn’t.

Another guest who spent 5 days onboard highlighted how her drinking pass came out to $420 a person. She ultimately concluded that “even as a non-heavy drinker, it was worth it.”

Carnival Can Take Away Your Drink Package

However, there are some people who ran into some trouble with Carnival’s drink pass.

This is largely due to the cruise liner’s policies on its drink pass. Another passenger showed her husband being put in drink pass prison. Carnival staff members ruled that the traveler needed some time to dry out after partaking in too much alcohol. Consequently, he was slapped with a 24-hour ban, preventing him from ordering any alcoholic beverages until it was reinstated.

What Do You Get With Carnival’s Drink Pass?

Known officially as the Cheers! package, Carnival lets passengers pay a daily fee for access to booze. If you pre-purchase it, it’ll cost you $69.95 plus taxes and fees. Decide to buy it on board, and you’ll shell out an extra $5 per person per day for the pass. There are some stipulations to the pass, however. For starters, if you’re sharing a room with others, everyone in your party needs to get a drinking pass. This is likely to curb folks from buying one drinking pass and then sharing their beverages with another guest.

Additionally, the pass only covers specific beverages. Any drink that costs $20 or less on Carnival’s menu is fair game. So if you happen to spot a bottle of Pappy Van Winkle at the bar, don’t think you’ll get 15 shots of it for $70. The pass entitles holders up to 15 beverages a day, and you also get a 25% discount on pricier beers, wines, and spirits. Carnival writes that “sodas, zero-proof frozen cocktails, energy drinks, specialty coffee, hot tea … and other non-alcoholic bottled beverages” are included in the pass, too.

There is a section that specifically speaks to Cheers! package as well. Carnival writes that these are in the best interest of ensuring folks “have a fun but safe vacation.” Additionally, the company mentions “a guest may be limited to fewer than 15 drinks based on our team’s judgment and discretion.” It repeats that this amount of drinks is “not an entitlement and if a guest is clearly impaired … [they] may decline service.”

Why Remove The Doorknob?

This aforementioned section about safety speaks to why the TikToker’s balcony access was stripped. Another passenger in late 2025 had the same thing happen to her.

To ensure no one falls overboard, Carnival will remove doorknobs from rooms with balconies.

Sadly, this precaution seems rooted in response to real-life tragedy. In 2026, a Carnival Cruise passenger died after jumping off the ship during a voyage from Celebration Key to Nassau.
