Man Strips The Walls In New House. Then They See The ‘Surprise’ Left Behind From Previous Owners: ‘So This Is What Archeologists Feel Like’

They say that for new home owners, sometimes your arch-nemesis becomes your home’s previous owner. But sometimes, the previous inhabitants of your home leave you a treasure almost beyond words.

Megan Jane Moore (95meganmoore) posted a TikTok of home renovations she was helping her sister with. She said they needed to get her sister’s new baby’s nursery ready.

In the clip, as they’re scraping away at the old iridescent white wallpaper, certain culturally impactful images begin to emerge.

Luke, I Am Your Father

The reveal is not exactly a huge surprise, after all, as the video rolls on, so too does the inimitable “Star Wars” theme song. But things begin to emerge from behind the tattered wallpaper. First, a figure holding something, then, a long, thin braid. He is revealed as Anakin Skywalker. Next, a little green guy is making intense eye contact with the viewer (hey, Master Yoda). Then Darth Maul appears in a robe so billowing it looks blousy. Finally, there’s Lord Vader himself.

It is the same Lord Vader whose visage is tattooed on Moore’s husband, “Uncle Martin’s” leg. Now it is semi-reasonable to assume that the new baby will be protected by Jedi, not angels.

That’s when you know the Force is really with you.

‘Star Wars’ Still Brings People Together

The internet is having a field day with this home renovation video. The video garnered over 16.8 million views.

And the top comment is an unbelievable doozy. Jessika Philpotts (@jessikaphilpotts) writes: “HII!! [weepy eyes emoji] this was my older brothers room until it was mine when he moved out and i put up the wallpaper. Mum fought me about it for months because she painted it (shes a art teacher). Im so happy a star wars lover has recovered this im sure my mum and brother will be so happy!!! Create lots of memory’s its the best house [triple blur heart emoji].”

It’s unbelievable because deeper in the thread, Philpotts admits she’s lying (she’s definitely been seduced by the dark side).

However, all hope is not lost, as the verified “Star Wars” (@starwars) account comments on the post “Pls keep it.” Seemingly simple and straightforward, could it be a possible Jedi mind trick?

Then Roboute Guilliman (@thisisthewaymand0) chimes in, “so this is what [an] Archeologist feels like?”

TikToker @bigragedaddy delivers Indiana Jones’ timeless line, writing, “It belongs in a museum!”

Many users agree that it at least shouldn’t be covered up.

What Is The Enduring Appeal Of ‘Star Wars’?

An armchair psychiatrist might suggest that “Star Wars” endures because hope endures. Others might cite creator/director George Lucas’ fascination with Joseph Campbell’s book, “The Hero With A Thousand Faces.” Arguably, both would be correct.

In a 1985 lecture to the National Arts Club, Lucas said, “I wrote many drafts of this work and then I stumbled across ‘The Hero with a Thousand Faces.’ The script rambled all over and I ended up with hundreds of pages. It was [this book] that said: here is the story. Here’s the end; here’s the focus; here’s the way it’s all laid out.”

Campbell’s writings argue that through all cultures and all myths, there’s a through-line of events: separation, initiation, and return. He calls this “The Hero’s Journey.” And he argues that every heroic figure endures it in one way or another: from Achilles to Superman.

Boiled down to its basic components, the Hero’s Journey is a narrative structure of transformation and return. Called a “monomyth,” it’s a 12-step process that includes things like the call to adventure and the refusal of that call. Then there’s meeting the mentor and tests. This is followed by facing darkness and the big boss fight. Finally, there are variants on rebirth, return, and freedom.

And that’s where hope comes into the whole thing. Because the hero overcomes incredible odds, and as they do, helpers, guides, and a path forward appear. There’s hope that simply by keeping going, a viable, and possibly rewarding path will be revealed—even to the most cynical among us. Because if Luke Skywalker could come out of retirement to save the galaxy one last time, surely the rest of us can manage a fight against traffic.
