The Bloody Mary is an incredibly popular option for people in search of the hair of the dog that chomped on them the night before, whether we’re talking about brunchgoers intent on testing the definition of a restaurant’s definition of “bottomless” or people who didn’t have the foresight to book an afternoon flight back from a vacation or bachelor party.

I can’t say I’m intimately familiar with the origins of the cocktail, but I can only assume it was the end result of someone discovering tomato juice was the only mixer they had on hand after waking up with a crippling headache and a half-finished bottle of vodka in their lap.

There’s not necessarily a correct way to make a Bloody Mary (although what is widely considered the standard recipe includes lemon juice and Worcestershire Sauce in addition to the aforementioned duo of liquids). With that said, if I’ve learned anything from the garish trend that emerged n the 2010s that involves garnishing the drink with things like cheeseburgers, chicken wings, and pieces of pizza, there is certainly a wrong way to make them.

Now, it’s too early to figure out if that’s the case with a new option that’s about to be unleashed on an unsuspecting world, but I have to say I’m a bit skeptical when you consider it’s inspired by…lasagna.

Stouffer’s is dropping a Bloody Mary mix that draws inspiration from its frozen lasagna

A few days ago, I stumbled upon a truly cursed libation whipped up by someone who put the “sbagliato” in the infinitely-memed (and equally stunning) “Negroni Sbagliato With Prosecco” by adding a scoop of SpaghettiOs to an otherwise tasty cocktail.

Now, as far as I’m concerned, pasta and alcohol are something you usually don’t want to mix unless we’re talking about a ragu or dish involving a white wine pan sauce.

However, the folks at the frozen food giant that is Stouffer’s have apparently thrown convention—and caution—to the wind with the “Lasagna-Inspired Bloody Mary Mix” the company says will let “fans to enjoy the same classic Stouffer’s Lasagna taste without turning on the oven”

While there’s no way to be sure, this seems to be the natural result of a tweet Stouffer’s sent out in September that presumably led to an employee failing to learn anything from the scientists in Jurassic Park.

The good news is you won’t have to spend a single penny to satisfy your curiosity or wet your whistle if the Bloody Mary mix tickles your fancy, as anyone who visits this link when the bottles officially launch at noon at 12 P.M. EST on November 14th can snag one for free until supplies run out.
