Bombshell actress Sydney Sweeney has been doing the press rounds over the last few weeks to promote the release of her upcoming romantic comedy film Anyone But You.
During a recent appearance on The Morning, an Australian talk show (Anyone But You) was filmed down under, Powell’s co-host Glen Powell said that an entire team’s worth of Australian Football League players apparently slid in her direct messages.
“I had a lot of questions. First of all, why are the shorts so short?” I had a blast. I got to meet everybody. I want to go back,” Sweeney joked about the sport, which is colloquially known as ‘Aussie rules football.’
Her co-star Powell, who you probably know as Hangman in Top Gun: Maverick, then chimed into reveal that one of the teams who were playing in the match they went to see sent her DMs.
“Well, they had a good time meeting Sydney as well. The whole team slid into her DMs afterward. It was… Australia wanted to welcome her to town fast,” Powell said.
“Yeah… in a very big way,” Sweeney added.
Their story does deserve to be met with a bit of suspiscion, however, as our very own Grayson Weir did a bit of journalism and discovered that the story she told on The Tonight Show about Gonzaga basketball players sliding in her DMs was largely false.
Alongside Sweeney and Powell, Anyone But You also stars Alexandra Shipp, GaTa, Hadley Robinson, Michelle Hurd, Dermot Mulroney, Darren Barnet, and Rachel Griffiths.
