Sylvester Stallone has been a ‘watch guy’ for decades and is considered to be one of the foremost celebrity watch collectors alongside guys like John Mayer and Ed Sheeran.

Stallone will soon auction off 11 watches from his private collection at Sotheby’s in the ‘Important Watches’ lot with a live auction on June 5th. Among the pieces that Sylvester Stallone is auctioning off is a bona fide ‘holy grail’ of watches, the Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime which is the world’s most complicated wristwatch with a price tag of up to $5 million.

Of course, all of the watches in the lot can be seen on the Sotheby’s website and anyone bidding on these rare pieces is certain to know the details about them but the added element of being owned and worn by Sly for decades makes these wristwatches particularly special. So, ahead of the auction, Sylvester Stallone sat down with Sotheby’s where he showcased the 11 watches that will go up for auction.

The models he shows off (in order) include: Patek Philippe 5711/1300A-001 Nautilus, Patek Philippe 5711/1A-010 Nautilus, Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Tourbillon ‘50th Anniversary’, Cartier W301970M Pasha Seatimer, Rolex 228235 Day-Date, Panerai Pam00382 Luminor Submersible Bronzo, Panerai Pam00202 Luminor Submersible ‘Slytech’, Panerai Pam00269 Luminor Submersible ‘Piece Unique’, and the holy grail watch, the Patek Philippe 6300G-010 Grandmaster Chime. Here is Sylvester Stallone showing them off (starting at the holy grail):

Showing off the Patek Philippe 6300G-010 Grandmaster Chime, the world’s most complicated wristwatch, Sylvester Stallone calls it the ‘big brother’ and the watch has its own elaborate wooden box unlike the others. These watches sell for anywhere between $2.5 million to $5 million but this is the FIRST time one has been sold at auction. So there really is no telling how much Sylvester Stallone’s watch will go for when the auction kicks off on June 5th.

The fact that this watch has “never been touched” according to Sylvester Stallone is a bit disappointing. To me, watches are like whiskey, and they are meant to be enjoyed regardless of how rare and special they are. Art can sit on the wall but Sylvester Stallone not wearing ALL of his watches is disappointing to me.

In his own words, Sylvester Stallone asked himself “what is the finest watch in the world? I’d like to own that” and went out and bought the Patek Philippe 6300G-010 Grandmaster Chime. But then he never wore it? Stallone goes on to say he had to ‘appeal to certain powers that be’ and ‘write letters to the board’ but again, he never wore it???

He admits he ‘bought this as a collector’ and didn’t want to ‘wear it around and bang it up.’ Comparing it to buying fine art. Stallone adds that he has a real sense of accomplishment just owning the watch… And now he’s selling it.

Side note: bright gold isn’t for everyone but the Cartier Pasha Seatimer is the watch in this lot that catches my eye the most. It is estimated to sell for between $15K-$30K USD.
