Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, a new animated film that was produced by Seth Rogen and his team.

The style and tone of the film are very reminiscent of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, which won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature and has spawned two sequels, the first of which hits theaters later this year.

Here is the official synopsis for the film, via Paramount Pictures:

In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, after years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through heroic acts. Their new friend April O’Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them.

The film’s voice cast is an ensemble that features the likes of Jackie Chan (as Master Splinter in a stroke of absolutely perfect voice casting!), Ayo Edebiri, Seth Rogen, John Cena, Hannibal Buress, Rose Byrne, Ice Cube, Post Malone, Paul Rudd, Maya Rudolph, Natasia Demetriou, and Giancarlo Esposito. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem will hit theaters in the United States on August 4.

In addition to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, Rogen — who also starred in Steven Spielberg’s Best Picture-nominated The Fabelmans last year — will also be featuring in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which hits theaters in April, as Donkey Kong.
