New ‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ Trailer Proves That, Similar To The Franchise Itself, Some Evils Just Won’t Die

Paramount Pictures

Look, I don’t want to be overly harsh on the Terminator franchise. After all, The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day are some of the most iconic action movies in the history of the medium.

But, the fact that we’re in the year of Our Lord White Claw 2019 and Terminator movies are still being churned out, despite the fact that they haven’t made a decent one in the last quarter-century, is stunning.

Like, remember the one with Christian Bale?! They made a movie with Christian Bale during the prime of his Batman career and it still sucked. Seriously, just look at the recent history of the franchise following T2 — it’s a disaster.

And yet, similar to the death-hungry cyborgs the entire Terminator story is built around, the franchise itself just won’t seem to die, no matter how many times we’ve tried to kill it.

So, now, here we are in 2019 on the verge of yet another Terminator movie: Terminator: Dark Fate. Only this time, some of the franchise stalwarts — Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor and James Cameron as a producer — have returned.

To be fair, the trailer actually doesn’t look half bad. There seems to be some pretty unique actions sequences. The star, Mackenzie Davis, is a badass. The director, Tim Miller, also has a history of helming groundbreaking actions movies, as he directed Deadpool.

Still, all that said, come on… who are we kidding? Like so many of its predecesors, Terminator: Dark Fate will likely be a mess from start to finish. But, hey, at least we get to hear Arnold Schwarzenegger say “I’ll be back” for the 47th time!

‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ will hit theaters on Friday, November 1.
