A woman dining at Texas Roadhouse exacted her revenge on a prayer group after they wouldn't take no for an answer.
The thing about revenge is that it’s got to be worth the price paid. One woman, dining at a Texas Roadhouse in Panama City Beach, Florida, decided no price was too high.
When Karle Davidson (@xoxo.karledavidson.xoxo) and her friend were having dinner at Texas Roadhouse, they got much more than they ordered. According to a TikTok Davidson posted, her meal was repeatedly interrupted. Apparently, a group of overly zealous Christians was on a mission for souls as much as steak. The TikTok has more than 5.2 million views.
Table-Side Service Gets A New Meaning
A Christian group dining at Texas Roadhouse “kept coming over to our table a few at a time and preaching the word of the Lord to us,” Davidson said in an Instagram message to BroBible. The intrusion was unwelcome. Even after the friends told them to stop, the Christians said they were going to keep praying for them.
So Davidson responded.
She thought the interruption merited an equally intrusive response: by flashing them her chest.
“I got up on the booth from the section behind them, and dumped ’em out n said god bless u guys!” she said. The manager then followed her out, asking why she’d done that. “Because I don’t give a f—-,” she said.
Next, the police got involved. Davidson thinks one of the women in the group called. But she wasn’t worried: “I didn’t care bc I was standing on business that I had done nothing illegal since I had pasties on.”
In the video, Davidson sits in the back of a police truck. The caption says the arrest was “worth it.”
Everyone Is On Her Side
It’s not a party until someone is arrested is the entire vibe of the comments section.
One user, Bren King (@brenbabyyy9), wrote, “Welcome to PCB – you come on vacation and leave on probation.”
“Jail is temporary and memories are forever [100% emoji],” wrote Zownes (@zownes).
And Brody Horan concludes the multi-part TikTok story is worth it. “I had to scroll and click to figure out what happened and I stand with my pastie girl queen,” he says.
While on a subsequent video, a user notes, “Freedom of religion is the same as freedom FROM religion.”
Dealing With Unwanted Prayer
Evangelical Christians argue that they have the best of intentions. After all, from their point of view, they’re not only sharing a powerful good part of their life, but a route to eternal salvation. They think they’re literally saving a soul from burning forever. This is despite the fact that many Christian scholars label this type of pressure perverse.
In fact, it’s an ongoing point of discussion among religious scholars. Tim Alberta, a self-confessed Christian, wrote a book examining how some evangelism has taken on a contentious tone in the U.S. He included a quote from a disillusioned preacher that the image of an evangelical has devolved into “Mister Rogers with a blowtorch.”
For those who don’t share such deeply held beliefs, uninvited public prayer can be deeply off-putting or even offensive. One essayist has even called it “hate indoctrination.” He argues that prayer is never OK in a public place.
So the question becomes how to appropriately push back against unwanted proselytization. And after repeated polite rebuffs are ignored, it’s understandable that someone who performs for a living might resort to physical comedy of the pasties-clad variety.
However, the Christians who were the recipients of her return “blessing,” presumably responded in a less than charitable way: They called the police.
After Davidson was arrested, she had to appear in court. She posted that the judge told her that what she did was “the funniest thing that ever hit his desk and [she] was NOT GUILTY.” Then she celebrated by lifting up her shirt and shaking her breasts, complete with cross-shaped pasties at the camera.
“Just keep it to yourself,” says Davidson in the final post on her boobilicious response to the purported salvation.
