Going to Texas Roadhouse can be a filling experience. Most meals come with some form of side, and the restaurant chain offers peanuts and buttery rolls for its customers, free of charge. Notably, Texas Roadhouse’s bread rolls have surpassed the peanuts in terms of popularity. That’s why it’s no wonder that servers and customers have come up with “hacks” revolving around the bread.
Content creator Kevin Russell (@doubleohkevin) says he had an amazing time at Texas Roadhouse, which led to him and his partner going home with an extra side of rolls. Then, he says his server let him in on a little life-changing hack that made the rolls even better.
Russell says she recommended that he make French toast using them. So, the following morning, he says he fried up some extra rolls. Russell’s video trying the hack has more than 930,000 views.
How To Make Texas Roadhouse French Toast
After dipping the rolls in an egg custard, Russell sets about frying them. Russell takes some of Texas Roadhouse’s iconic cinnamon butter and places it in his pan. He then takes a roll that was cut in half and lays it flat to caramelize. After searing the rolls in the pan, Russell adds a final touch: some sugar-free syrup. Then he tries the roll.
“It’s a bunch of butter and sugar, and it’s bread. It’s… You can’t f— it up, but this is insane,” Russell says.
He calls his partner over to try the roll, and she calls the creation “insane.”
“ 10 out of 10, baby. 10 out of 10,” Russell says.

What Other Texas Roadhouse Roll Hacks Are Out There?
There are a variety of hacks that customers use to spice up their rolls. A Maryland man, for instance, recommended requesting grilled rolls when visiting the Texas-themed restaurant. But what about take-home hacks?
Chowhound recommends using Texas Roadhouse’s buttery rolls for grilled cheese sliders. The publication specifically says to “simply split the rolls, arrange the bottom halves in a rectangle in a casserole dish, layer on the cheese of your choice, add the tops of the rolls, slather everything generously with butter, and bake until golden and gooey.”
Tasting Table also notes that Texas Roadhouse’s butter rolls are great when paired with cheese. Considering the restaurant chain is generous with its portion sizes and rolls, the publication says that it’s not unrealistic to walk away with “three or four” extra rolls in a basket. Otherwise, customers can grab the rolls at Texas Roadhouse or at Walmart.
What Did Viewers Suggest?
Outside of a few well-established hacks, viewers suggested using Texas Roadhouse’s rolls for an assortment of other snacks and sweets.
“From a former worker, apparently they also make good smores like sandwiches. Cut em open stuff em with chocolate chips and mini or regular mallows and grill,” one viewer said.
Another said, “I use them to make bread pudding for the staff on big holidays.”
Then, a third said, “For some reason you said French toast but my brain was thinking garlic bread.”
