A24’s new film The Iron Claw is now officially playing in movie theaters and has already begun to receive calls for it to be nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards.

The Sean Durkin-directed film is certainly worthy of awards season success, as it’s the sort of expertly crafted adult drama that would’ve cleaned up at the Oscars back in the 80s or 90s. Personally, The Iron Claw is my second favorite film of the year, behind only Christopher Nolan’s potentially generational achievement in Oppenheimer.

Prior to the release of the film in theaters, Durkin spoke with BroBible’s Post Credit Podcast about sins of the father, Greek mythology, the bond between his lead actors, throwback adult dramas, and creating an incredible original song for the film.

Before directing The Iron Claw, the 42-year-old Durkin has also helmed the films Martha Marcy May Marlene (2011) and The Nest (2020).

The Iron Claw, which stars Zac Efron, Jeremy Allen White, Harris Dickinson, Maura Tierney, Holt McCallany, and Lily Jamesis now playing in movie theaters across the United States. Efron’s performance as Kevin von Erich is receiving particularly rave reviews, so much so that there are growing shouts for him to be nominated for Best Actor.
