Netflix has released the full, official trailer for The Killer, the latest film from David Fincher, the acclaimed director of films such as Seven, Fight Club, The Social Network, and Gone Girl.

In the lead role as the titular killer is Michael Fassbender, who hasn’t appeared in a feature film since 2019’s Dark Phoenix, which was the final movie in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men franchise.

You can check out the official trailer for The Killer, which will be hitting Netflix on Friday, November 10, below.

Here is the official, and mysteriously brief, official synopsis for The Killer, via Netlfix:

After a fateful near miss, an assassin battles his employers — and himself — on an international hunt for retribution he insists isn’t personal.

The Killer is set to be a return to form for Fincher, who last directed 2020’s black-and-white Netflix film Mank, a passion project about Citizen Kane writer Herman J. Mankiewicz. The 61-year-old Fincher also spent the late 2010s making the hit series Mindhunter for Netflix, which ran for two seasons from 2017 to 2019.

In addition to Fassbender — who will also be starring in Taika Waititi’s Next Goal Win in November — The Killer also stars Arliss Howard, Charles Parnell, Kerry O’Malley, Sala Baker, Sophie Charlotte, and Academy Award-winning actress Tilda Swinton.

The 46-year-old Fassbender, who married Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander in 2017, has spent recent years racing in the European Le Mans Series and raising his son, who was born in 2021. In the coming years, Fassbender is also set to lend his voice to the film Kung Fury 2 and is rumored to have roles in projects such as a remake of The Wild Bunch, Paris Paramount, Hope, and Night Boat to Tangier.

Prior to its release on Netflix, The Killer will also have a limited theatrical run that begins on Friday, October 27 — two weeks before its streaming debut.
