THIS IS THE WAY.
I SAIDDDDDD, SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK. THIS. IS. THE. WAY. 🗣️
After an eight-episode first season that essentially redefined what the Star Wars universe could look like, Disney has wasted absolutely no time preparing the highly-anticipated follow-up, as it was announced on Tuesday night that Season 2 of The Mandalorian will be hitting Disney+ in October — less than a year after it originally premiered.
During the Mouse House’s quarterly earnings call, not only did Disney CEO Bob Iger confirm the release month of season two, but he also teased possible Mandalorian spin-offs in the future.
Also, and of course, Iger confirmed that The Mandalorian will be running well beyond just two seasons.
The move and reaffirmed commitment to The Mandalorian and Disney+ is an obvious choice from the Mouse House, as the series arguably represents the high watershed moment in the Star Wars universe ever since Disney purchased Lucasfilm back in 2012. While reviews and reactions to their various film outputs have been mixed, The Mandalorian was widely beloved and acclaimed by both critics and fans alike.
Disney obviously had an inkling that The Mandalorian was going to be a success as season two was already in production while season one was debuting.
After a first season that saw the titular Mandalorian Din Djarin cross paths with the cultural phenomenon that is Baby Yoda, season two looks set to see the pair traverse the galaxy in order to return the adorable Force-using youngling to his people.
All eight episodes of the first season of ‘The Mandalorian’ are currently streaming on Disney+.
