Of all the things that The Mandalorian did well in its first season, hiring incredibly talented people to steer the ship was near the top, as every single one of the series’ first eight episodes was helmed by a big-name director.
From Star Wars vet Dave Filoni to future Obi-Wan Kenobi series showrunner Deborah Chow to Bryce Dallas Howard to Academy Award-winner Taika Waititi, the first season of The Mandalorian was absolutely loaded with directorial talent.
And according to recent reports, season two will continue that trend as massive Hollywood directors such as James Mangold (Logan, Ford v Ferrari) and Robert Rodriguez (From Dusk Till Dawn, Sin City) are set to be a part of the upcoming episodes.
According to a post by Black Series Rebels (via SWNN), James Mangold and Robert Rodriguez have both contributed their directing skills to season 2. However, it does not appear that either of them directed entire episodes, but rather directed sequences for an episode. It is unclear if their sequences will be in the same episode or spread across multiple episodes, but the report does note that other unspecified directors also filmed parts. They also shared that Bryce Dallas Howard is returning to direct an episode. [via Screenrant]
At this time, the second season of ‘The Mandalorian’ is set to hit Disney+ in October. All eight episodes of the first season are currently streaming.
