Stop me if you’ve heard this one before: a Star Wars trailer is breaking the internet.

Yup, it’s about that time of the year again, folks, only this time, the hysteria isn’t surrounding a Star Wars movie, but the first-ever live-action Star Wars television series: The Mandalorian

The Mandalorian, directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man, The Jungle Book, The Lion King), stars Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones, Narcos) as “a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic” and takes place in between the fall of the Empire in Return of the Jedi and the rise of the First Order in The Force Awakens.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Mandalorian, via Disney:

“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.”

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Favreau said he’s trying to “evoke the aesthetics” of the original trilogy, particularly the opening of A New Hope:

“I’m trying to evoke the aesthetics of not just the original trilogy. Not just the first film, but the first act of the first film. What was it like on Tatooine? What was going on in that cantina? That has fascinated me since I was a child, and I love the idea of the darker, freakier side of Star Wars, the Mad Max aspect of Star Wars.”

In addition to Pascal, The Mandalorian also stars Gina Carano, Nick Nolte, Giancarlo Esposito, Carl Weathers, Taika Waititi, and Bill Burr.

The Mandalorian is set to premiere exclusively on Disney+ on Tuesday, November 12.
