Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady was a special guest on Bloomberg to discuss Hertz and other things. The big news on Wall Street on Tuesday was Hertz going public on Nasdaq and Tom Brady has had a long-standing partnership with Hertz so he made a perfect guest.

Tom wasn’t able to be there in person (in NYC) because of practice but he dialed. At about the 1:25 mark of the video below, Brady is asked about his decision to switch to an electric vehicle several years ago and how he exclusively drives Tesla vehicles now. His answer has EXTREME ‘South Park: good for you / smug alert‘ vibes and I kind of love it. Tom’s geeking out on the EVs in a way I can identify with.

Check it out:

I don’t know about you guys, but when I was a kid I’d have my normal voice and then the voice I’d use answering the house phone (landline) for my parents where I tried to act all grown-up and professional. My wife is still 100% guilty of this every time she has to make a phone call to a restaurant for a reservation.

I’m getting those vibes from Tom Brady in this clip. He’s flipping a switch and speaking very differently than he would if he was talking to the locker room. There are probably still instances when I use this voice as an adult. At the doctor’s office when I’m trying to get a bartender’s attention and they’re swamped but I really want my dang drink so I present myself as the nicest human being on the planet to try and curry favor.

Anyway, it’s funny to glimpse this other side of Tom Brady. And for what it’s worth, Tom’s a dad, I’m a dad, this is 100% the voice we ALL use with our kids.
