While Tom Holland’s new AppleTV+ series The Crowded Room has been a massive failure, the 27-year-old actor’s press tour for the series certainly has not, as the Spider-Man star has come across as an incredibly down-to-earth guy in every interview he’s given.

One of those interviews was on the Smartless podcast — hosted by actors Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Sean Hayes — which saw Holland recall how he felt meeting his fellow Marvel Cinematic Universe stars for the first time.

“It was this interesting thing where you just realize that everyone’s actors wearing crazy costumes, sitting in the same set chairs, eating the same Atlanta food,” Holland said.

“It was obviously really amazing. I was 18 — a huge fan of those [movies]. I think Robert Downey Jr. really does a good job of setting the tone and how people should behave: he’s on time, he’s professional, he knows his lines, he knows everyone’s names, he’s respectful.”

Holland made his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as a supporting character in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War before starring in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. Since then, Holland has also starred in Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Spider-Man: No Way Home.

While Holland remains a massive star thanks to his role as Spider-Man and his relationship with Zendaya, he could certainly use a critical/commercial win outside of the MCU. Since becoming Spider-Man in 2017, Holland has starred in additional projects such as The Current War, Spiddes in Disguise, Dolittle, Onward, The Devil All the Time, Cherry, Chaos Walking, and Uncharted.

Currently, in addition to the eventual fourth Spider-Man film, the only other project that Holland is attached to is a Fred Astaire biopic that’s being developed by Sony and is set to be directed by Paddington and Wonka filmmaker Paul King.

The Crowded Room is currently streaming on AppleTV+ and also stars Amanda Seyfried, Emmy Rossum, Sasha Lane, Will Chase, and Lior Raz.
